Kimberly Benard
Program Advisor, Distinguished Fellowships
Kim assists students with the entire application process to external fellowships, including but not limited to the Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell, Gates Cambridge, Fulbright, Jack Kent Cooke, and Truman. Kim received her B.A. in English from Loyola University-New Orleans, her M.A. in medieval studies from Fordham University, her M.Phil. in English literature from Fordham University, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate (at the dissertation stage) in medieval English literature at Fordham University. If you wish to discuss Beowulf, she is always available to chat.

Bob Dolan
Seasonal Counselor
Bob joined the MIT Careers Office in 2007 as a full-time Career Development Counselor after serving three years on campus as a seasonal career consultant. He is a Certified Job Search and Career Transition Consultant with experience in the field of career management since 2001. Before joining MIT, Bob had a private Career Consulting practice and worked with clients across multiple industries, as well as, providing career consulting services for Lee Hecht Harrison, a leading global Career Management firm. Bob's clients spanned all industries and positions ranged from company Presidents to administrative staff.
Prior to choosing a profession in Career Services, Bob worked in several industries as a member of Corporate Finance Management teams. Bob holds a BS in Business, an MBA, and worked in the Publishing industry, Chemical industry (polymer sciences), and 12 years in the High Technology sector, predominately in telecomm. During this time, he managed local and global finance organizations supporting the Corporate, Tax, R&D and Manufacturing Engineering functions. Bob was also a company trainer, delivering seminars on workplace diversity, effective presentation skills, and conflict resolution.
As a hiring manager for over twenty years, Bob brings a unique blend of "real world" and career services expertise to his clients. Since 2003 Bob has been on the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Career Counselors' Consortium of New England, a Boston-based non-profit organization established for the edification and advocacy of practitioners in the Career Management field.
Rachel Greenberg
Assistant Director, Career Education and Freshman/Alumni Summer Internship Program (F/ASIP)
Rachel joined the staff of the MIT Career Development Center in January 2006 as the Counselor for the Freshman/Alumni Summer Internship Program and Preprofessional Advising. In her current role as Assistant Director for F/ASIP, she teaches seminars to and advises F/ASIP students, conducts employer outreach, and visits students at their internship sites. Prior to coming to MIT, she served as the Coordinator of Advising at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and while pursuing her masters degree, she worked as a graduate intern in the career office at Wheelock College. Rachel received her M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Boston College and her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.

Melissa Ackerman Hart
Coordinator, Employer Relations
Melissa works closely with employers to coordinate on-campus recruitment throughout the year. She also works with the Associate Director to plan industry and employer events and help employers build a presence on campus.
Melissa received her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis & Clark College, and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. Her Career Services experience includes work as an Employment Specialist at Jewish Vocational Service, as a Career Counselor at Simmons College and working with first-generation college students at Mt. Ida College. In the past, Melissa has worked as a Mental Health Therapist and non-profit administrator.

Heather Law
Career Development Specialist, Career Education and Freshman/Alumni Summer Internship Program (F/ASIP)
Heather joined MIT in 2007 as the graduate and PhD career assistant. She is now a Career Development Specialist. Her background includes Public Relations, Market Research and Marketing experience in large Pharmaceutical companies and the television industry, including AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, CNN Worldwide News and Fox Philadelphia. She also has additional experience in management and hiring practices. Heather greatly enjoys the interviewing process and hopes to help students foster many skills to help them further their careers.
Currently, Heather is pursuing a master's degree in Counseling Psychology at Lesley University. In her free time, Heather prefers to spend much of it enjoying the outdoors with activities like hiking, roller blading and exploring.

Deborah Liverman
Associate Director, Career Services
Deborah serves as the Associate Director for Career Services. She leads a Career Services Team in providing direct services to students and employers.
Deborah attended Davidson College in North Carolina for her undergraduate degree and received her Masters from the University of South Carolina. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in Higher Education Leadership at UMass Boston. Deborah's interest and background in higher education administration aside from career education includes experiential learning, community service, multicultural programming, and diversity education.
Shonool Malik
Associate Director, Preprofessional Advising and Special Projects
Shonool leads efforts in providing Preprofessional Advising programs and services for undergraduates, graduates and alumni.
Shonool attended Lady Irwin College, India for her undergraduate degree in Child Development and Psychology, University of Hertfordshire, England for Entrepreneurial Management and Boston College for Masters in Higher Education Administration She has an active interest in Indian Classical Dance (she is a trained Kathak dancer) and dance fusion, international travel and community service.
Tamara Raimundi Menghi
Assistant Director for Preprofessional Advising
Tamara joined the staff in the Global Education and Career Development Center (GECDC) in the summer of 2001 and predominately counsels and supports the prehealth and prelaw communities at MIT. Her experience in higher education includes work in the field of residential life at the University of Connecticut, SUNY Morrisville, and Wesleyan University and interning at Wesleyan University's Career Resource Center.
Tamara recieved her master of science in Counseling and Student Development in Higher Education at Central Connecticut State University and her bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Relations from the University of Connecticut.
Melanie Parker
Executive Director, MIT Career Development Center
Melanie Parker received her Master of Education from Mississippi State University and her Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration from the University of Maryland. Prior to coming to MIT she served as the Executive Director of Career Services & Experiential Learning at the University of Central Florida. She has worked in university career services for nearly 20 years, including progressively responsible positions at Mississippi State University and the University of Florida. Additional experiences include human resources positions and corporate career development consulting.
Christie Reynolds
Career Assistant
Christie joined the Career Development Center in Fall 2009 as the Preprofessional Advising Career Assistant. She provides general career counseling to students as well as preprofessional advising to prehealth and prelaw students. Christie received her law degree from American University and her undergraduate degree in Communication from Boston College. Prior to working at MIT, she worked in business development and marketing for top law firms in New York City and Washington, D.C. where she advised attorneys on drafting resumes. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in Higher Education Administration at Suffolk University.
Nancy Richmond
Assistant Director, Counseling & Career Exploration
Nancy Richmond works with her team on helping students with self-assessment, career exploration, career decision-making, job search strategies and career development issues. Additionally, her areas of expertise include using social media for your job search, e-portfolios, teaching, self-branding and event planning. Nancy has been working in higher education in both career counseling and admissions since 2001. In addition, she has previous marketing, and business experience.
Nancy has a Master’s of Education in Counseling from Boston University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Merrimack College. Currently, Nancy is enrolled in the Doctor of Education program at Northeastern University. Her research and interests include career counseling students of color, international education and diversity programming
Erin Scott
Preprofessional Advising Counselor
Erin provides preprofessional advising for prehealth and prelaw students. Please check out the prehealth and prelaw Links on our web page for detailed information in these disciplines.
Erin previously served as a Preprofessional Advising Career Assistant at MIT and has also advised prehealth students at Yale University and MBA students at the Boston University School of Management. Erin received her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Boston College, and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Central Michigan University.
Matthew Seeley
Career Assistant
Matthew assists students with career-related issues and provides support to the Employer Relations team at the MIT Global Education and Career Development Center (GECDC). Prior to coming to MIT, Matthew worked in the social service field in Chicago. He also taught English to primary school children in southern France, as well as to French children living in New York City. Matthew received his bachelor’s degree in Human Development from Northwestern University and his master’s degree in Elementary Education from National College of Education. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Counseling at Boston University.

Colin Smith
Career Development Specialist, Counseling & Career Exploration Team
Colin has been working with the Global Education and Career Development Center since 2008. Initially hired as a Career Assistant while he was completing his MS in Applied Educational Psychology at Northeastern University, Colin rejoined the GECDC as a Career Development Specialist in August 2009 following the completion of his graduate study. Previously Colin had worked in Wheelock College’s Career Development Center as Graduate Assistant, during which time he ran the office in the absence of a director.
Colin is excited to be working at MIT and looks forward to serving as the liaison to Course 6 students as well as the liaison to the computer hardware/software industry.
Ellen Stahl
Career Development Specialist, Career Counseling & Career Exploration Team
Ellen joined the Career Development Center team in 2007 as a Career Assistant. She has spent the majority of her career in Hollywood, California where she worked as a Talent Agent for a world renowned agency, working with actors and comedians to develop their television and movie careers. She also worked many years as the right hand to a top ranked entertainment President/CEO where they strategically worked to launch the Hallmark Channel, now one of the fastest growing cable networks on air. Upon returning to the East Coast, she worked with a drug discovery company, and most recently as a consultant to a new restaurant venture in the Boston area.
Currently Ellen is completing a MEd in Higher Education, and holds a Bachelor’s in Creative Arts from Bradford College.
Ellen is thrilled to be using her corporate background to help students market their skills and abilities. She is passionate about helping students realize their true potential, and choosing a career path that provides a lifetime of fulfillment and success.

Yulia joined GECDC in September, 2009 as a Career Development Specialist. She is a trained organizational psychologist with experience in career development, program design, and assessment. Her scholarly interests include: employee motivation and work attitude, managerial decision making, and career development of women. She is excited to be on a Career Education & F/ASIP team with Rachel Greenberg and to assist students in identifying possible selves through self-reflection and evaluation.
She holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University and a Diploma in Linguistics and Foreign Languages from Herzen Pedagogical University of St.Petersburg, Russia. Outside of work, Yulia enjoys training and showing her Rhodesian ridgeback, experimenting with natural ingredients in her kitchen, and playing chess.
Marilyn Wilson
Senior Career Development Specialist
Marilyn has been with the MIT Career Development Center since 2001. She provides advising and programming services for PhD students from all departments, and assists employers who wish to connect with PhD students at MIT. In past years Marilyn worked with undergraduates in all fields and particularly the sciences, HASS, and DUSP. Students with an interest in writing careers often consult with her.
Marilyn received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Vermont, and her Bachelors in History from Harvard. Within psychology she focused on neuropsychology, assessment, and development. She has previous work experience as a freelance writer, event manager, and nonprofit administrator. Marilyn is active in community theatre both as an actress as on the production side.
