Internship and Recruiting Programs at MIT
MIT has numerous internship programs where students will have the opportunity to learn and explore what it is like to work in various fields. There are some academic departments that have recruiting or internship programs that may only be available to their students.
F/ASIP
MIT's Freshman/Alumni Summer Internship Program is a truly unique program that provides training to first year students on how to get internships that first summer, and how to be successful at those internships once they get there.
Fasip links these extraordinary students to smart, forward-thinking companies, resulting in an experience that provides immediate and tangible value to both students and employers

Materials Science and Engineering - The Industrial Internship Program (Undergraduate and Graduate)
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
77 Massachusetts Avenue
Cambridge, MA 02139-4307
THE INDUSTRIAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT offers students the opportunity to experience the world of research, development, or production in industry.
For the Bachelor's degree, two ten-week work periods in an industrial or governmental establishment are required. Normally, these occur during the summers preceding the junior and senior years. Students register for the MIT subject, "Industrial Practice." The second of these work periods, properly reported, is accepted in lieu of the undergraduate thesis.
A candidate for the Master's degree begins a six-months work period in June following the senior year. The student's work, suitably reported, comprises the Master's thesis.
