Prehealth Registration

Individuals interested in applying to a medical or health profession school are required to register with the Preprofessional Advising Office two years prior to the desired matriculation year. (Ex. If seeking fall 2011 admission to medical school and a prehealth advisor, complete the following steps between spring semester and summer break.)

Attendance at a prehealth orientation session and/or the review of the online workshop materials is highly recommended prior to completing a prehealth registration meeting.

Prehealth Registration Meeting Expectations

  • Review responses to the prehealth registration form with a member of the Preprofessional Advising staff.
  • Discuss interest and motivation for pursuing a health profession.
  • Collect feedback and guidance on how to improve one's application for a health profession school.
  • Develop tangible next steps for preparing application for the medical or health profession application cycle.

To register please complete the following steps:

  1. Create a CareerBridge account using your MIT email address when providing your contact information.
  2. Schedule a prehealth registration meeting (required) with a member of the Preprofessional Advising staff. Appointments can be made by calling 617-253-4733 and speaking with a member of the front desk staff.
  3. Complete the following prior to your scheduled prehealth registration meeting:
    • Upload to CareerBridge your TYPED responses to the Prehealth Registration Questions listed below. Each question response should be approximately one-half page in length.  At the top of your registration question responses please include your full name, major, GPA, Exam Score (if applicable) and date. Please see the following directions for using CareerBridge for uploading documents to "My Documents" in CareerBridge and managing your prehealth credential file.
    • Complete a Prehealth Course list sheet and bring it with you to the prehealth registration meeting.

  7. What will be your biggest challenge while in medical or other health profession school?
  8. What year do you intend on matriculating to a health profession school? (ex. 2011, 2012, etc.) Why have you decided that 20XX is the best time to apply to a health profession school?
