Workshop Request Form

The Career Development Center (CDC) staff is available to facilitate on-campus workshops for academic departments and student groups.  To request a General Workshop, please carefully review the following policies and procedures and complete the form below. Please contact careerworkshops@mit.edu if you have any questions.

Workshop Requirements & Policies:

  • Requests for general workshops (topics listed below) must be made at least 10 business days before your first date preference Requests for tailored workshop topics must be made at least 15 business days before your first date preference. If an outside speaker is requested, additional time may be required..
  • A minimum of 15 participants must attend
  • All workshops are to take place on campus during the following hours:
    • Monday – Thursday 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
    • Friday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
    • Workshops may begin after 7:00 PM but must conclude by 9:00 PM
    • Saturday and Sunday – generally not available but exceptions can be made, pending staff availability, with advance notice and a guarantee of 50 participants
  • All event costs must be covered by your organization.

Please select which of the following topics you would like us to present.  All topics below generally require approximately 60-90 minutes:*

Resume and Cover Letter Writing: This workshop will teach the fundamentals of creating strategic resumes and cover letters. Participants are encouraged to bring a draft of their current resume and cover letter with them to the workshop.

Networking: This workshop will teach the fundamentals and importance of networking.  Networking is the process of discovering and utilizing connections between people stemming from friendships or business relationships.  Research shows that 70-90% of all job opportunities are created through the networking process.

Job / Internship Search: Discover ways to look for a job or internship through the traditional methods and the hidden job market. This workshop will provide tips, strategies, and helpful resources to help you be successful in finding the right job for you.

Interviewing: This interactive workshop will discuss both the strategy for on-campus and off-campus interviews, including what Hiring Managers look for from candidates.  Tips and suggestions will be provided on how to prepare for an interview, proper dress, and how to answer both technical and behavioral interview questions effectively.
