Frequently Asked Questions

MIT InterviewTrak

Go straight to http://www.monstertrak.monster.com/seekers/ to access InterviewTrak. If you are a first-time user, please read this page to learn more about MIT InterviewTrak.

To access the interview sign up menu, select InterviewTrak from the menu after you login to MIT MonsterTrak. You will be able to sign up for interviews, view opportunities for preselect schedules, and other related tasks. Learn more about MIT MonsterTrak.

After searching through the employers, you can submit a resume by choosing Submit Resume at the bottom of the employer's job description. You will be given the opportunity to edit and preview your resume and other required information before sending your materials.

Preselect Interviews

With InterviewTrak, employers select students for preselect schedules from among the resumes submitted to them by students. If you have submitted your resume to an employer outside of InterviewTrak (e.g. career fair, presentation), you will need to be registered with MonsterTrak in order for an employer to add you to their preselect list.

When an employer decides to interview you, they will add your name to their preselect list. They will most likely also send an email to inform you of their decision. The employer will then appear on your list of preselected interviews on MonsterTrak. You will not be able to sign up for an interview time until the day signups begin.

Changing Interview Times

To change interview times, you must first remove yourself from the current slot, then sign up for another slot. Interview times may be changed prior to the sign-up deadline.

Cancellation and No Show Policy

Failure to appear for scheduled interviews prevents other students from using your time slot and wastes the recruiter's time. Such behaviors could jeopardize MIT's relationship with the employer regarding research and related activities and ultimately cause employers to suspend recruiting at MIT. Therefore, it is important that when you sign up for an interview you follow through on it. If you cannot make your scheduled interview, please be sure you take the appropriate steps.

Canceling Interviews

INTERVIEW TIMES MAY BE CHANGED OR CANCELLED UP TO 48 HOURS BEFORE THE SCHEDULED INTERVIEW. Cancellations within 48 hours for reasons other than illness or an emergency are not acceptable and will jeopardize your recruiting privileges. If you must change or cancel an interview, you can do so directly in InterviewTRAK, or contact the MIT Career Office at 617-253-4733 to have a member of the staff assist you.

No Show Policy

If you miss an interview for any unexplained reason, you will be required to submit a letter of apology to the recruiter explaining your reason for missing the interview, with a copy sent to the Employer Relations Team at 12-170 within two business days after the missed interview or your interviewing privileges will be suspended.

If you incur a second unexplained "no show", your recruiting privileges will be suspended immediately. You will be required to submit a letter of apology to the recruiter and justify missing the interview to the satisfaction of the Employer Relations Team before your privileges will be reinstated. A third "no show" will result in termination of your interviewing privileges for the rest of your tenure at MIT.
