Competencies That Build Ccareer Success

Par Exercise: Identify Your Competencies

With a partner, discuss an accomplishment that demonstrates your competencies.Use PAR Statements - discuss the Project, your Actions and the Results.

Example:
For the 50K contest, I served as team leader on a project that lasted 3 weeks. We built a robot that could toss a ping pong ball through a hoop. I had to encourage my teammates to complete their part of the project on schedule. There were times when we were all very busy with other assignments, but I offered encouragement and organized our meetings in the evenings. I was able to pull everyone together. Also, I made sure everyone on the team knew about each person's progress, each time we overcame an obstacle to our project. Our team came in second in the contest.
