WINNING INTERVIEWING TECHNIQUES

Types of Interviews

Behavioral/Emotional/Story Telling:

  • Requires you to offer concrete, specific examples to reveal skills
  • We recommend that you use the "STAR" framework to structure your reponses in a specific, concise way:
    • What was the SITUATION?
    • What was your TASK?
    • What ACTION did you take?
    • What was the RESULT?
  • Employer is making assumptions about your future performance based on past behaviors and attitudes.

  • Examples:
    • Tell me about a time when you exhibited teamwork.
    • Give me an example of a time you confronted a challenge and how you dealt with it.

Why isn't your GPA higher?
