1) Career and Professional Considerations

  • Do you know what your career goals and needs are?
  • Does the position fit your career/goals needs?

If you are uncertain of your career goals, you may want to review our self-assessment on-line workshop.

It is essential that you understand your competencies, explored career fields and occupations, and understand your options. Speak with experts and colleagues, who can help you to focus on your career goals. Try to speak with others ( ICAN) in similar positions. So that you are well aware of trends and issues with in you area of interest.

  • Are the company's projects in line with what you want to do?
  • What kinds of new competencies are you interested in developing and where are you looking to expand your experience?
  • Does the position offer the challenges you are seeking?
  • Who has the power to make decisions?
  • Are your expectations about the position and the company realistic?
  • What do you require from your work environment? (equipment, support, and other factors)
