Networking 101

Developing Your Introduction

  1. Collect advance information about the person, organization, or industry if you are planning to attend a meeting/conference, conduct a networking call, write a networking letter, or contact them online.
  2. Determine which of your attributes or skills will be of most interest to those you will be meeting.
  3. Write a 20 to 30 word script which includes your name, type of information you are seeking, and related skills/experience. The more specific you are, the easier it is for people to help you.
