Christchurch
We next crossed from the north to the south island, stopping in Christchurch. We got up enormously early for a beautiful and memorable hot air balloon ride over the Canterbury plain at dawn. In the remainder of our time in Christchurch, we strolled around the botanic gardens and visited the International Antarctic Centre, where we took a ride in an authentic Antarctic Haggalund vehicle.
