Writing a Case Precis

After establishing the phase structure of the case and threshold dates for each phase, summarize the essential facts in a short history, organized by phase. Each section starts with the name of the phase and the threshold date (as recorded in the Case Detail window), followed by a paragraph giving the facts, events, names, and places concerning course of the conflict.

The major actors on each side appear in the Case Detail. Allies and outside parties that support one side or intervene to mediate the dispute should be mentioned in the precis.

The precis can serve as a quick synopsis of the case and as a basis for further research in printed or electronic reference sources.
