Cascon Regions
CASCON divides the world into six regions. Region refers to the location of the dispute
itself, particularly for contested territory, rather than the location of contesting
parties. The region for a case is entered and displayed in the Case Detail window. The
regions are:
- Africa -- the whole continent and neighboring islands, with the exception of
Egypt.
- Europe -- the continent and adjacent islands, including Russia and Turkey.
- Middle East --the ancient fertile crescent from Egypt across to Iran.
- Pacific, East Asia, and Southeast Asia -- the western edge of the great Pacific
basin, including the islands, the continent of Australia, and New Zealand.
- South and Southwest Asia -- the Indian subcontinent and the mountainous and
steppe areas to its north.
- Western Hemisphere -- North, Central, and South America and nearby islands.
