ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

There are many people I wish to thank who helped me enormously during this re-construction of the Center's web page.

First, thanks to Michael Altman. He put down the foundation from which I borrowed, revised and, hopefully, expanded upon.

Second, Michael Caplan, who showed me what html meant and gently led me down the path to emacs.

The images here are from several sources, namely the laboratories of Drs. Rakesh Jain, Linda Griffith (Mark Powers, deserves a large round of applause for getting the figures to me), Elazer Edelman (thanks to Jim Squire for letting me borrow the expanding stent from his home page - that's really cool!), Shuguang Zhang, Martin Schmidt (his image was borrowed from the MIT Museum home page. The photo was supplied by the internationally famous Felice Frankel), Dan Ehrlich (also borrowed from the MIT Museum home page, also taken by Felice Frankel), Naomi Chesler and Constantine Hrousis (from Roger Kamm's research group), and many others to whom I am grateful.

Professor Doug Lauffenburger, the first Director of the Center for Biomedical Engineering, provided the text for our documents. Thank you for your patience and belief that I would be able to pull this off!

The patient and kind folks at the MIT Electronic Publishing component of Information Systems, especially Debby Levinson, were more than helpful from the very beginning to the very end, especially in getting these documents on the web. Thanks for dealing with a true novice in such a nice way!

Last, and certainly not least, this page would not have been possible, literally, without the very necessary input of Mr. Dan Ratner, a student from Pomona College working with us over the summer, who turned me off the html/emacs path and pointed me in the direction of Gold - Netscape Gold, that is. I am forever in his debt as I hadn't a clue as to how I was going to get text and images into a document, let alone publish it! For a person like me, with very limited web skills to be able to do what appears on our home page, this is a giant step. His help was critical. Whenever you need a reference, Dan, you can always count on me!
