The summer was a busy and exciting time for us at CBI. We have refined our Research Portfolio, launched our new Biomanufacturing TRP, increased awareness of CBI's activities through an internal outreach campaign across MIT, and established a tighter operating model for the organization. I want to especially thank Claude Canizares, VP of Research and Associate Provost, as well as all the Council members and faculty who generously shared their time and input in our Strategic Planning Process. Among the key things these discussions highlighted for us was the importance of CBI's Safe Haven model for breakthrough collaborative innovation, and a strong desire to leverage lessons learned from other industries. Over the next few months, we look forward to announcing a number of new programs for 2008 that will focus on themes that emerged from our increased outreach efforts. We know you'll be interested in them — so stay tuned. Regards, |

I am so pleased with the progress we have made at CBI in the past few months. Thanks to the hard work of Gigi Hirsch, Sherene Aram, Cheryl Mottley, and my co-directors, Ernie Berndt and Steve Tannebaum--not to mention the outstanding guidance and help from many of our Council members and other faculty--we are building a whole new foundation for CBI that I believe will have tremendous payoffs for everyone. Regards, |
