NEWDIGS
NEW Drug Development ParadIGmS
An initiative to transform the drug development process within the context of an evolving global healthcare marketplace.
NEWDIGS was launched in spring 2009 to address a number of key change drivers surrounding drug development in the current marketplace including:
- Emerging science and technologies that have increased R&D costs but so far have failed to demonstrate the anticipated return on investments
- A growing demand for more and better data on the benefits, risks, and relative effectiveness of drugs
- An ongoing need to improve the productivity and efficiency of the innovation process
- Reforms that are changing the policy and economic environment associated with healthcare in the U.S.
- Globalization that is bringing new challenges and opportunities to the healthcare industry
NEWDIGS applies a holistic engineering systems methodology to structure the redesign process, and to measure the impact of new elements. This “Enterprise Transformation” methodology is rooted in value creation for all key stakeholders as a critical driver of large scale, sustainable change.
