The Center for Cancer Research provides unique training and educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers.
Postdoctoral scholars (Postdoctoral Associates and Postdoctoral Fellows [link to CCR Postdoc pages]), or “postdocs” as they are familiarly known, hold doctoral degrees from all over the country and the world, and come to the CCR to pursue research and training under the guidance of a faculty member. Postdocs are indispensable to the many research projects taking place in the CCR.
Graduate students are admitted through the Department of Biology and may train and conduct research in one of the CCR’s thirteen labs during their graduate study. Graduate students are an integral part of CCR’s research labs and work closely with faculty members to pursue some of the most exciting areas of research in cancer and related fields.
Undergraduate students from across the campus have the opportunity to collaborate with CCR faculty through the MIT Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP). The program allows students to gain hands-on experience in a laboratory setting while pursuing their research projects. Please see the CCR’s UROP page for information on how to get a UROP and procedures for getting paid as a UROP.
