Test Your Certificate
Common Problems
Did you receive an error during the the test? The two most common errors are:
- Errors involving an untrusted certificate or untrusted site: The most common cause of this is not having obtained the MIT Certificate Authority (CA). Return to the certificate page and click the link to obtain the MIT CA. The MIT CA does need to be installed in each browser you use, but unlike your personal certificates, it does not expire each year. You can also use CertAid to install the MIT CA.
- SSL handshake errors or connection errors: The most common cause of this is not having any personal certificates in your browser, or having expired certificates. Return to the certificate page and obtain new personal certificates.
