went to the market to buy gerbils.

Now, what was a turtle doing buying gerbils? Well,

He had a chronic disease known as gerbilitis that required him to eat gerbils among other gerbil-like things

He bought a gerbil, but was forced to throw it out, realizing it had herpes. He ate an onion instead. The onion looked like a gerbil, and hence was ok to eat.

but everyone Likes herpies so another turtle w/ Gerbilitis ate it.
