It is interesting to note that all of the documentation was acquired in a specific order. His goal was to receive an American visa, but he couldn't do so until he had a Lithuanian passport. After receiving his Lithuanian passport on Aug 16, he then received his US immigration visa on Aug 18. As can be seen, Jekutiel never made use of the German transit visa he received on Aug 26. A best guess is that he was trying to follow his father and his brother Jack's immigration path to America through Cherbourg, France. When Germany invaded Poland on Sep 1, he likely realized that it would be impossible to pass through Poland -> Germany -> France and so sought a better route, eventually traveling from Lithuania -> Latvia -> Estonia -> Sweden. Notice that he received his visas in reverse order, first from Sweden, his final departure, then Estonia, then Latvia, and finally Lithuania. After all travel documents are arranged, only then can he purchase his train ticket and finally leave on that same day. It is reasonable to assume that his week and a half between arriving in Tallinn and leaving from Gothenberg were spent making his way through Sweden, buying tickets and waiting until the next ship to America was on its way. As can be seen, the situation was so desperate he was even willing to travel on the High Holidays.

Dzikansky Family in US

In all documentation for the family as they first entered America, the name is spelled 'Dzikanskis.' Only later is it changed to 'Dykan', 'Dzikansky.' The following, including dates of arrival in the US, is culled from the documents found at the end of the online photo album.
