Interested in teaching for Charm School? We need you!

You don't need to be an "expert" to participate. We have curriculum for most of the classes, but you are welcome to provide your own. We are encouraging the development of new and interesting subjects! If you would like to teach a class not listed here, please let us know in the box at the end of the form.

Please check subjects you are interested in teaching, then indicate your availability to teach on Friday, February 1, 2008. We will try our best to assign you to teach the class of your choice. We will send confirmation and be happy to provide you with any assistance.

How to accessorize/dress for success
Ties, scarves, color coordination, the right shoes/hats, etc.
Small talk/attentive listening
The art of conversation, light banter, use of foreign phrases; eye contact, earnest gazing, unisex eye batting, etc.

Impressive introduction, salutations, endearing good-byes, thank-you notes, extending invitations, responding to invitations, etc.

Practice proper table deportment at the Manners Cafe.
Connecting with faculty
How to invite faculty to student gatherings, walk into faculty offices, get to know faculty, visit faculty at their homes; classroom etiquette for students and faculty.
Cell phone, telephone and email ettiquette
How to deal with difficult people and/or difficult situations
Roommates, friends, faculty, employers.
Overcoming shyness
How to ask friends, faculty, housemasters, administrators and strangers for assistance.
Public speaking
Hello, world: manners for the traveler
International manners for the traveler and career professional alike.
Working with people you really need in life
The Grocery clerk, Mail person, other folks in the service industry.
Networking/business etiquette
What is it and how to do it effectively. Also, how to work a room. Wine and small plate balancing included.
How to tell someone something they'd rather not hear
Practice conversational formula (yes, this is MIT!) for expressing yourself honestly and respectfully in sticky situations both personal and public.
Build your confidence
How living a well balanced life- socially, intellectually, athletically, musically... helps boost your confidence.
