Who We Are
Welcome to the MIT Cheerleading Team website! We are a co-ed club sport of over 20 members
who join together with the primary goal of promoting school spirit through cheer.
Our members include MIT graduate and undergraduate students in a wide variety of majors.
We are an instructional team and no experience is required to join because we
will teach you everything you need to know.
As such, everyone is invited to join in our practices at any time to see if cheerleading is something you would like to pursue.
What We Do
The MIT Cheer team rallies at all Varsity Men's
Football and
Basketball home games. In the past we have
also been invited to cheer for Men's and Women's Rugby,
Men's Varsity Crew, and the
MIT Marching Band. We also participate in community
events upon request such as
Dr. Susan Hockfield's Inauguration Block Party,
the Activities Midway, and Campus
Preview Weekend.
In the Spring, we compete at Regional and State cheerleading competitions.
We meet six hours per week to practice our game routine, stunting, and gymnastics.
Our performance material includes cheers, dances, collegiate-level stunts, and tumbling.
What You Can Do
Whether you help out a classmate, participate in an MIT organization, or cheer with us at a game,
you, too, are promoting school spirit. We'd love to hear from you if you have any
questions or comments about what we do. So please do not hesistate to
contact us.
If you would like to join us in honoring our school and its traditions, you can look
for us at games, come to our practices, invite us to perform at your event,
or support us with a donation to our fund.
