When applying to graduate school at MIT, you are essentially applying to a specific department. It is important that you indicate on the form the degree and program that you wish to pursue. Your application is then evaluated by the appropriate department and you are notified of the result. Please note - even if your objective is to enter an interdepartmental program, you must still apply through one of the participating departments.

The following degree programs are solely administered by the Chemical Engineering department: M.S.CEP, Ph.D.CEP, Ph.D./Sc.D.

M.S.CEP/Sinagpore Dual Masters:
This program is new and comes together with full fellowship: M.S.CEP/National University of Singapore Dual Masters.  In addition, full fellowships are available for a National University of Singapore PhD, jointly supervised with MIT and Singapore faculty. [Details]

Chemical Engineering participates in the Program in Polymer Science and Technology (PPST), Leaders for Manufacturing (LFM), and several other MIT interdepartmental programs.

  • Applications for September admission must be submitted by January 2.

The Council of Graduate Schools offers helpful resources and information for students seeking graduate study.
