Associate Advisors provide general information to incoming Chemical Engineering students about MIT and Departmental requirements, student organizations, careers, and graduate study, as well as simply helping them become a part of the Chemical Engineering Community. Associate Advisors serve as an extension of the Chemical Engineering Faculty Advising program. To become an Associate Advisor a student should be a Chemical Engineering junior or senior and attend a training session in academic counseling before beginning work as an associate advisor. Associate Advisors do not have access to student records, transcripts or student files. They may not process or sign student registration sheets, forms or petitions.

- Cumulative GPA of 4.0
- Junior or senior standing by Fall 2008
- Good presentation, interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to
respond to a wide variety of concerns with a neutral viewpoint.
- Ability to work and relate well with faculty and staff
- Be able to attend 1 day training program on Wednesday, August 27th
- Be willing and able to commit to the position for both Fall 2008 and Spring 2009.
- Willing to attend leadership/communication/counseling training meetings once a term
