Current research:
I am working on the total synthesis of cyatha-3,12-diene, a fungal metabolite possessing a challenging fused 5,6,7-tricyclic core. Key steps in the synthesis involve enyne-epoxide reductive coupling and an intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction to assemble several rings and set several stereogenic centers. Once this route has been established, the synthesis of other cyathanes can be performed using analogous methodology, including some targets for Alzheimer's Disease treatment.
