TUTORING

One-on-one tutoring is available for the following Chemistry classes:

Fall: Spring:
5.07 Biological Chemistry
5.111 Principles of Chemical Science
5.112 Principles of Chemical Science
5.12 Organic Chemistry I
5.13 Organic Chemistry II
5.60 Thermodynamics and Kinetics
5.61 Physical Chemistry
5.03 Principles of Inorganic Chemistry I
5.111 Principles of Chemical Science
5.12 Organic Chemistry I
5.60 Thermodynamics and Kinetics

To be eligible for tutoring services, a student must be:

  • attending recitation regularly
  • turning in problem sets
  • attending office hours

and have the approval of his/her TA. 

To receive tutoring services:

  • Print out a Tutor Request Form from this site for the class you are taking.
  • Complete the self-diagnostic on the form.
  • Meet with your TA to discuss the areas where you need additional help.
  • Your TA will turn in your request.
  • A tutor will be assigned to you within two days and will contact you. 

Students who are receiving a “B” or better are not eligible for this service.

There is no fee for this service.

 

Applications to become a tutor are now being accepted for the Fall 2009 semester. To apply, please click here (undergraduate) or here (Graduate) to print out the application.  Return the completed application to Melinda Cerny in room 2-204, cerny@mit.edu, by Friday, September 11th. Tutors will be selected by Friday, September 18th.
