Eastman Kodak Research Recruiting
Dr. Ralph Nielsen, Eastman Kodak, Rochester, NY (MIT U88, Buchwald Group) will be here recruiting for positions in Physical, Physical-Organic, and Synthetic Organic Chemistry.
Dr. Nielsen will do a presentation on research at Eastman Kodak on Monday, March 6 from 6-7 PM in the Toxicology Faculty Lounge (16-322). Anyone interested in Eastman Kodak is invited. Interviews will take place on March 7 and 8. Anyone interested should sign up on for interviews on the Placement Bulletin board outside of the Headquarters Office (18-390) and leave a copy of their résumé with M.-T. Kouo in 18-398.
Invited to apply are 1) physical chemists with experience in kinetics/thermodynamics, structure-activity relationships, and material synthesis/characterization; 2) physical-organic chemists with experience in mechanistic structure-activity relationships, kinetics, and some synthetic experience; and 3) synthetic organic chemist with experience in molecular modeling and structure-activity relationships, heterocyclic chemistry a plus.
Outreach Meeting
Would you like to visit area high schools and perform chemistry demonstrations? Come to our meeting on Monday, March 6 at 5:30 PM in the Norris Room (18-490). We will be forming teams and choosing which schools to visit. Please contact Kathy Lee or Sandy Gould at 3/1836 if you have any questions.
UNDERGRADUATE OPPORTUNITIES
For more information on the opportunities listed below, please check with the Chemistry Education Office in Room 2-325.
Research Opportunities
- The National Science Foundation announces its 1995 Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program in Chemistry. The program supports summer research at 58 institutions throughout the US.
Internship
- Altus Biologics is looking for a summer intern with laboratory experience in Organic Chemistry. Altus is a young Cambridge based company involved in the development and commercialization of Cross-Linked Enzyme Crystals ("CLECs") as catalysts for organic synthesis. The contact is Alex Margolin, 617/499-0500.
Employment
- The US Coast Guard is seeking Outstanding Scholars for the position of Environmental Protection Specialist for their Marine Safety Division. Applicants must expect to complete their bachelor's degree by June 1995.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
For more info on the opportunities listed below, please check the blue binders in Headquarters.
- Barrett Partners, a professional search consultant, is seeking a Research & Process Development Chemist for a Chicago, IL manufacturer to research product line to analyze functional characteristics of reaction and to develop field test methods for use at client sites.
Faculty Positions
- University of Minnesota, Morris, MN. Temporary position open for an assistant professor/instructor in organic chemistry.
Postdoctoral Positions
- Dr. Edwin Quinones of the University of Puerto Rico has a postdoctoral opening in his research group to study atom + molecule reactions in van der Waals complexes. The ideal candidate should have experience in the molecular beam and laser spectroscopy areas.
- Dr. Dah-Yen Yang of the Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences, Taipei, Taiwan is seeking two postdocs for his group for biomolecular research focusing on theoretical study of ligand binding to heme protein, PH effect protein dynamics, and allosteric effect of hemoglobin, and molecular dynamic simulation.
