New Security Measures
As part of the East Campus Security Project, perimeter doors will be locked on buildings 54, 56, 66, E17, E18, and E19 on weekdays between 6AM and 6PM and on weekends. Access will be available through the breezeway between 56 &66 and the main door at 55 Ames Street by swiping a new MIT picture ID card through the card reader.
To obtain an MIT picture ID card on the spot, visit the Card Office at E32-200 with the current personnel issue ID card and a picture ID (Driver's License or Passport). In addition, the card office will be taking pictures in the central locations that follow but allow one to two weeks for delivery through Campus Mail.

Faculty Positions
- Boston, College, Chestnut Hill, MA: seeks candidates to fill a tenure-track position in organic chemistry. Commitment to establishing a vigorous, funded research program and teaching at both under and graduate levels is essential.
- Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.: invites applications for two temporary, full-time faculty teaching positions for the 1996-7 academic year in the area of analytical, inorganic or physical chemistry. The possibility of renewal for 97-98 and opportunities for collaborative research exist.
- The University of California, Irvine, Irvine, CA: is seeking a recent Ph.D. with postdoctoral experience in the area of Atmospheric Chemistry to apply for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor.
- Alma College, in Alma, MI: invites applications at the Assistant Professor level for a tenure-track position beginning in the fall of 1996. Responsibilities will include teaching, lecture and laboratory sections of introductory and advance biochemistry.
- Rutgers University, Newark, NJ: has a faculty position open for chemist in the area of synthetic chemistry to complement their current department. The position is available in July of 1996 and offers a substantial start-up package and competitive salary.
- Loloya University, Chicago, Illinois: invites candidates in the area of organic chemistry to apply for an assistant professor position. Teaching and research potential is of major importance.
- The University of Montana Bozeman, Montana: is seeking outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position in organic chemistry. Candidates specializing in any subdiscipline of organic chemistry are encouraged to apply. Preferred those with postdoctoral experience.
- The University of Miami, Miami, Florida: invites applicants with a Ph.D. for a tenure-track assistant professorship to begin August of 1996. A demonstrated research interest in synthetic bio-organic chemistry is preferable, but other areas of synthetic organic chemistry will be considered.
- The University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls, Iowa: seeks applicants for a position in chemical education at the assistant professor level. They seek an individual with a Ph.D. in chemical education or chemistry who is committed to excellence in both teaching and research.
- The University of North Carolina at Wilmington: invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in any area of physical chemistry to begin in the fall of 1996.
Positions
- Ambion, Austin, TX: invites potential candidates to apply for a position as a bioorganic chemist at Ambion. Ambion develops and sells a variety of innovative kits and reagents for use by molecular biology research community with a special focus on RNA analysis.
- Gallery Chemical Company, Pittsburg, PA: is in search of a Ph.D. chemist for an opening in their research group. The candidate should have a background in organometallic chemistry and be familiar with all modern analytical/spectroscopic techniques. Knowledge of alkali metals, synthetic organometallic/organic chemistry and post doctoral experience would be a plus.
Postdoctoral Positions
- The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA: invites candidates to apply for a postdoctoral position in the group of Professor W. Dean Harman on or before May 1, 1996. The project involves asymmetric cycloadditions with n^2 - pyrolle and n^2 arena complexes of osmium and is supported by NIH and NSF.
