Professor Larry Stern Named Holder of Pfizer-Laubach Career Development Chair
Congratulations to Professor Larry Stern who has been selected to be the next holder of the Pfizer-Laubach Career Development Professorship beginning July 1, 1997 for a three-year term. The Chair was established by Pfizer in 1988 and named after Dr. Gerald D. Laubach, an alumnus of MIT and former President of Pfizer, Inc., to acknowledge his illustrious 40 year career. The chair provides an opportunity to identify and support promising MIT faculty members as they develop their careers in the fields of biology and chemistry.
Schlumberger Dowell Recruiting
Dr. Roger J. Card, Section Head, Stimulation Technology, Oilfield Chemical Products, will be in the Department of Chemistry on June 10 and June 11 to recruit for positions in well stimulation technology. Candidate should be a postdoc with experience in two areas of chemistry and in wet chemistry. Anyone interested should sign up for interviews on the Placement Bulletin board outside of the Headquarters Office (18-390) and leave a copy of their résumé with M.-T. Kouo or Kitty Valleli in 18-390. Interview Schedule and résumés will be sent by FAX to Dr. Card on June 4. Literature on Schlumberger Dowell available in Chemistry Headquarters in 18-390.
Glass Blowing Services Available
Bob DiGiacomo will be coming in on Wednesdays or Thursdays to pick up any glass blowing work that you may have available. Please bring any work to room 6-031 or call Ed Udas or John Annese at 3-4505. Bob will do the work on a first-come, first-served basis.
