Grand Opening of New Chemistry Education Complex on Dec
5!
Please join us at 3 pm on Friday December 5 to celebrate the grand
opening of the new "Chemistry Education Headquarters" on the second
floor of Building 2! Our new education complex incorporates the
current Chemistry Education Office (Miriam Diamond and her staff,
2-325), Susan Brighton's Graduate Office (currently located in the
Dreyfus Building), and also the Undergraduate Student Lounge
(currently 4-273) and the Graduate Student Study Lounge (currently
4-465 within the undergraduate laboratory complex). Refreshments will
be served!
Kudos to Steve Klei, Winner of ACS Grant
Congratulations to Steve Klei, who recently won a grant to present
a paper at the upcoming American Chemical Society meeting in Dallas
next March. Steve, a senior undergraduate working with Kit Cummins,
will present a paper on "Use of a Norbornyl-Substituted Ligand for
Three-Coordinate Niobium".
Baby Congratulations!!
Congratulations to Denise MacPhail (Dr. Wogan's office in
Toxicology) and her husband Robert on the birth of their daughter,
Emma Leena MacPhail. Emma was born on November 3rd and weighed in at
7 pounds and 13 ounces. Denise is enjoying her new role as "mom".
Help Get Organized!
Call Ed Udas at 253-4505 or stop by room 6-026 if students,
faculty or staff need help in organizing their MIT space.
Glass Blowing Services Available
Bob DiGiacomo will be coming in on Wednesdays or Thursdays to pick
up any glass blowing work that you may have available. Please bring
any work to room 6-031 or call Ed Udas or John Annese at 3-4505. Bob
will do the work on a first-come, first-served basis.
