National Science Foundation Hosting Inorgaometallic Workshop

The organizing committee for the 1998 NSF Sponsored Inorganometallic Workshop invites applications from interested individuals for attendance. The workshop will cover all areas of Inorganic Chemistry including organometallic, bioinorganic, main group, catalysis, and materials chemistry. The workshop will be limited to ~ 28 participants (academic, industrial, and government labs) and will focus on the newest non-published results from the participant's research programs. Talks will be short with extensive discussion time. Academic participants are limited to tenure-track faculty members. One page applications should include your name, rank, business address, phone # fax #, e-mail, and an abstract of your research you wish to discuss at the workshop. Applications are due by April 10 to: Professor George G. Stanley, Dept. of Chemistry, Lousiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA 70803-1804, phone:504-388-3471, fax: 504-388-3458, email:mailto:george.stanley@chem.lsu.edu

Bayer AG Offering Postdoc Workshop

The pharmaceutical division of Bayer AG, Germany would like to invite German/European scientists in the US, who are currently doing postdoctoral research in synthetic organic chemistry, to participate in a workshop from May 29-31 in West Haven, CT. Over the next two years, Bayer AG will offer several challenging positions in its Medicinal Chemistry Departments in Wuppertal and intends to recruit organic chemists with a particularly profound synthetic background. Interested individuals with an excellent background in synthetic chemistry should send their resumes to one of the following addresses: In Germany: Dr. Stephen Schneider, Head of Medicinal Chemistry III, Bayer AG, D-42096 Wuppertal, Phone: 49-202-368230 in the United States: Dr. Bernd Riedl, Staff Scientist, Bayer Corporation, 400 Morgan Lane, West Haven, CT, 06510, Phone (203) 8125202 and fax is: (203) 8122650.

Glass Blowing Services

Bob DiGiacomo will be coming in on Wednesdays or Thursdays to pick up any glass blowing work that you may have available. Please bring any work to room 6-031 or call Ed Udas or John Annese at 3-4505. Bob will do the work on a first-come, first-served basis.

Help Get Organized!

Call Ed Udas at 253-4505 or stop by room 6-026 if students, faculty, or staff need help in organizing their MIT space.
