Research Interests:
I am interested in the effects of environmental factors (biotic and abiotic) on the physiology of phytoplankton and micro-organisms, in particular cyanobacteria, and the influence of these environmental factors on their population dynamics, diversity and evolution. I am currently assessing the impact of viruses on cyanobacterial host physiology and evolution from whole genome sequence analyses and microarray gene expression of both host and virus during infection. My future research goals include the development of a suite of molecular diagnostic indicators to assess the variables that affect the population structure of cyanobacteria and to investigate the impact of viruses on host dynamics and evolution.
