The
Product Engineering Process (2.009)
In this course, students develop an understanding of product development
phases, and experience working in teams to design and construct high-quality
product prototypes. The course improves the ability to reason about design
alternatives, and to apply modeling techniques appropriate for different
development phases. In addition, students come to understand how to gather
and process customer information, and transform it into engineering specifications.
Through teamwork, students resolve challenges in designing and building
a substantive product prototype.
Introduction
to Civil Engineering Design (1.012)
This seminar introduces students to the design issues and practices in
civil engineering. Included are several design cases, as well as the theory,
tools, and techniques of engineering design. The course emphasizes built
facilities, natural environment, economic and social factors, and long
expected life span.
