What is the view ?

The View from Silicon Valley is an effort by the project to understand the perspective of US business on the status of the information technology industries (ITI) in Asia.  It is being conducted by Andy Procassini and Bill Keller.  A comprehensive  survey questionnaire is being sent to executives whose companies in Silicon Valley have extensive experience with technology development, production, alliances, and sales in East Asia.  When the survey is completed, it will be analyzed by members of the MIT project team, and the results will be presented at a Workshop, "The View from Silicon Valley," to be held in San Jose in June of 2000.  The Workshop will be restricted to the MIT project team and participants who completed the survey questionnaire.

Results of the survey and the June 2000 Workshop will be made available to authors at this web location.  In the meantime, we have posted 3 draft documents for your informaton:  (1) a letter describing the survey instrument; (2) the survey instrument that we are using, and (3) a study background that explains the survey and Workshop to executives who will be filling it out.  All three documents will be mailed to participants with follow-up phone calls and/or visits.
