The Middle East Security Politics Working Group
The Middle East Security Politics Working Group (MESPWG) seeks to provide
graduate students, faculty, and outside researchers with a forum to present
their ongoing Middle East security work and receive feedback from interested
researchers. We have defined security broadly in order to properly capture
the full range of pressing security issues that affect the region; these
include, but are not limited to, traditional military conflict, economic
security, civil-military relations, and internal security among others. The focus
of the group leans heavily, but not exclusively, on student and
junior-faculty/early-career professional research. Steve Van Evera and Carol
Saivetz sponsor the group. Josh Shifrinson serves as student
coordinator.
