Firms are rethinking their IT investments to support global operations and a process orientation. At most organizations this requires a commitment by senior management to understand the role of
systems, particularly the IT infrastructure, and to specify an operations-based corporate strategy that dictates IT requirements. This paper identifies five components of a framework for managing IT in
organizations: corporate strategy, IT architecture, IT infrastructure, systems applications, and organizational processes. It also describes four management partnerships that are necessary for developing and
maintaining these components. |
