...to Hey It's Your Backyard!
Welcome to Hey, Its Your Backyard! a program for high school students and educators that explores how individuals affect the environment. By participating in the program students will consider how their lifestyles and daily consumer choices impact the environment. Students will also explore how they, as individuals or part of a concerned citizen group, can bring about change in government policies and environmental practice.
To help you introduce this subject MIT staff and students have created a thirty minute television show and a web site. The video tape is a lighthearted look at the day in the life of a MIT student "Horace" and how his everyday decisions have an impact on our environment. Students can compare their own lives with Horace's and realize how they can become more environmentally aware and responsible.
The web-site mirrors this curriculum packet by providing activities, lesson plans, and resources.
