The Colloquium which was held at MIT in March 2000 brought together a group of leading practitioners and educators to define new challenges and exciting opportunities which our profession will encounter in the coming decades. This exciting Colloquium considered recent and future developments impacting the profession such as globalization and expansion of organizations, internationalization of practice, major infrastructure development and redevelopment, unprecedented technological change, increased scope and integration of services, increased attention to issues of sustainability and more explicit concern for the societal and environmental impacts of our activities.
