Friends and Webpages (actually, friends with webpages)

(Click the picture to visit their webpage - alphabetic by last name)

Heidi Kang
.

Heidi is my wonderful girlfriend (soon to be fiancee!). We met through the First Korean Church in Cambridge at a friend's concert in November 2003 and started dating in April 2004. She's a Cello and Music Education Major at BU and will finish up next year. She's from Busan, South Korea and came to Boston in the fall of 2002. I've only met her dad so far, so I can't wait to go meet the rest of the family in Busan next summer!

Peter Bermel
.

Peter's actually my cousin first-removed or something (same great-grandparents) and he's here at MIT studying Theoretical Condensed Matter Quantum Physics of something important like that. He's the officemate of David Chan (below), who is also in this field with a big name. Peter is only 6 months old than me (mid 1979), but he got his master's degree mid 2001 (I'll probably get mine "on time" in mid 2004).

(Figure from his recent paper on omniguides)

David Chan
.

David's got quite the dance skills. He quickly attracts attention with his sleek, well practiced dance moves. Recently, he's been trying his hand at giving random benedictions to people. He also a boozer ... I mean a guy with very refined stomach for wine and beer. Girls: he's single and yearning for his missing rib.

Eunmi Choi
.

Eunmi is my officemate here at MIT. She lives in the office, or at least she's there from about 9am to 1am every day. If they had to kick one of us out of the group, I would definetely go first. She knows everything and can solve any problem (typical physicist). It's great having her around, though. When she went to Korea for a month, I told people I missed my officemate (most people are glad when their office mate leaves!).

Tim Finegan
.

He's got some hillarious pictures of David Chan and Muyiwa! He's also got the home theater hobby bug, so the system in his room is remarkable. He's been here a long time and looking to graduate in some nearness of future.

Saikat Guha
.

He's been trained in school in Indian Classical music on violin, so sometimes we get together to play some tunes, with me on tabla drums. He's got some great photos from Switzerland, massive Boston snowfall and other neat stuff on his website. He also started working on making his own synthesizer in C++ and made some short tune samples. Some day, maybe we'll make some simple recordings of our music.

Chris Joye
.

Chris started at Berklee College of Music in the fall 2003 in electric bass. He's just started working on a website. He lives right across the Charles River from me in Boston real close to Fenway Park. (Berklee one)

Ed "Special Ed" Kopesky
.

Ed is one of those guys who seems quiet, but has a really funny and random personality, as evidenced by his wacky website. He harbors grudges against people and posts them on his webpage. He's also known for writing mini plays about his friends, emphasizing their character quirks. I can still hear his impression of Todd Hastings: "hey guys... howz it goin?"! Wooot!

Jaewook Lee
.

Jaewook is one of the nicest guys I know (sorry girls, he's already taken). He's always somewhere helping people out or helping put something together. Thanks for driving us around all the time! Good luck as president of Chung Nyun Bu!

Cynthia Lo
.

Cynthia is the most conservative Berkley (CA) graduate I've ever met (that's not saying a lot, since Berkley is one of the most liberal schools in the world, but she also goes to Park Street Church, which is pretty conservative!).

Daniel Nagaj
.

Dan is a great guy from Slovakia somewhere, although he has little accent. He speaks like 5 languages or something. He's been doing an awesome job at the weekly dorm coffee hour keeping us filled with cake and ice cream! He was very amused by the Airzooka I bought to coffee hour recently. See pics.

Wes Peoples
.

Wes is known for his strength. It must be because he carries about 50lbs worth of Bibles to Bible study every week.

Chris Rycroft
.

By memory, Chris knows pi to about 200 digits (he's out of practice). He's got hundreds of incredible photos on his webpage. Check it out!

Chris Teti
.

My brother's friend and first music teacher who also attends Berklee College of Music in Boston. He's got incredible guitar technique and can play really fast and clean!

Balint Veto
.

One really funny guy from Hungary who went to college in Holland and now he's in gradschool at MIT. Check out his really great photos from his recent trip to China!

Homestar Runner
.

If you haven't seen this flash cartoon site, you're missing out on some seriously funny stuff. Check out the Strong Bad Emails. Awwiiight! I also made a quotes pack that I use in MATLAB to signal when the program is done! The quotes are updated once in a while: homestar_quotes.zip (38 quotes, 625kB, updated 7/5/04). See the research page for MATLAB files.

the Sideways Bike Guy
.

Last, but not least, I put the Sideways Bike Guy in here. I've seen him riding down Mass Ave on occasion. No further comment.
