Juny 4th, 2006 Independence day. (Take that, Britan!)

(modified 7/5/06)

Hanging out with Frank and Kevin. Kevin always picks the best spot. We even had the curb as a footrest! Of course, he also brought soda and snacks.

I took short exposures handheld with the Canon 70-200mm f/4 on the 1D, while shooting long exposures of about 3 seconds on ISO-100 Agfa film in the old Canon A2. (These are all non-film pictures so far!). The brightness of the fireworks varied greatly. This is 1/80s at ISO-1600! Actually, I should have taken Kevin's advice and shot at even higher speeds on the hand held, like 1/250s.

That's an explosion!

I like this one.

They also had 3d cubes there! How do I knkow it's 3d? If it was 2d, we would have seen several flattened ones, because you can't control the exact angle when the firework explodes, but they were all cubic. Last year, I remember seeing several "flat" 2d smile faces.

And here's a nice blur.
