Mr. Luis Marin
President and CEO of CITGO Petroleum Corporation
Biography
Luis Marín joined CITGO in August 2003 as President and CEO. He serves on the CITGO Board of Directors and is responsible for setting CITGO's course toward achieving our Vision: "To be the World's Benchmark Energy Corporation."
In addition to his service to CITGO, Marín serves as a national vice president of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and a member of the Board of Directors for the Venezuelan American Association of the United States.
Marín received his bachelor's in natural gas engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1980. In 1987, he completed postgraduate studies in oil management at Oxford Petroleum College in England, and continued with advanced studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), completing postgraduate studies in management in 1997.
Marín began his career in the petroleum industry with PDVSA in 1980. Marín has held various positions with PDVSA, including positions in Natural Gas Planning; General Engineering; Gas Operations; Petroleum Engineering; Production, Trade and Supply Operations; and Technical Management. Marín has served as advisor to the General Manager of Production, Coordinator of Exploration Projects, Manager of Drilling in Eastern Venezuela, and Manager of the Ceuta-Tomoporo Development Project. In 2002, Marín was appointed Manager of Corporate Production Planning and was then appointed Deputy Production Manager of the Eastern Venezuela Division.
Prior to joining CITGO as President and CEO, Marín was General Manager of PDVSA's Eastern Division and served on the PDVSA Board of Directors.
