Winter Storm Warning (February 8, 2013)
Dear Club Sports Community,
As you are all well aware, a winter storm is expected Friday into Saturday with a snowfall starting Friday morning and continuing through Saturday afternoon. Total accumulation for Boston/Cambridge is forecasted at 12-24 inches.
At this time, as a result of the storm, all MIT Club Sports contests for Saturday, Feb. 9 have been cancelled. Updates will be posted on www.mitathletics.com.
Until we hear from MIT, DAPER is planning to open the main DAPER complex on time at 6:00 a.m. on Friday. As a reminder, if the Governor declares a State of Emergency, all DAPER facilities will be closed. However, at this time, while not yet official, we anticipate DAPER facilities to be closed on Saturday. If DAPER facilities are closed on Saturday, the earliest we would reopen would be at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Any adjustment to facility hours will be messaged on the Rec Sports website and this phone number 617-452-3690.
Club Sports have a proud tradition at MIT. Many clubs have offered decades of service to both graduate and undergraduate students, while new and unique clubs can be formed to reflect the interests of the MIT community. Several competitive clubs have excelled at the regional and national level, and our instructional staff features numerous accomplished and dedicated experts.
There are over 30 Club Sports at MIT featuring a wide variety of competitive and instructional activities. Practice times for each club will vary, so there is sure to be a club with a schedule that will fit yours!
Club Sports are student-led, student-governed, and are open to all MIT affiliates.
