The Community Lab is a joint project of community organizations in Cambridge, MA and, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, the Comparative Media Studies Program and the Center for Reflective Community Practice. It is led by Mark Lloyd, Martin Luther King Visiting Scholar at MIT. The site was designed by Brian Jacobson, a first year graduate student in Comparative Media Studies. Brian is also the teaching assistant for Mark's fall MIT course titled "Democracy and Communications Policy in Cambridge". The focus of the course will be to explore a collaboration with local city officials and community leaders to improve both the availability of local information and opportunities for local democratic deliberation.
