This website is aimed at potential employees of Lucas Film Inc. and
affiliated companies. Beyond this demographic, the site seems useless.
On the home page, it informs the reader of its intended demographic
and there are links to other websites for those interested in certain
movies (Star Wars). The site is a simple one void of any cool Java
applets or Flash movies. There are six links off of the main page,
"History," "Companies," "Internships,"
"Employment Opportunities," "FAQ's" and "Benefits."
I clicked on each of these and arrived at a one page explanation of
each.
The "History" page was a time line from 1971 (when Lucas
Film became incorporated) to 1999. The time line was basic with all
key dates highlighted. "Companies" included the four branches
of Lucas Film (Lucas Licensing, Lucas Digital, Lucas Entertainment
and Lucas Learning) and a two sentence description of each. "Internships"
had an overview of programs and an online application. "Employment
Opportunities" posted a list of openings at Lucas Film Inc. To
my disappointment, "FAQ's" and "Benefits" were
inaccessible.
That's the extent of www.lucasfilm.com, there was no discussion of
what the company had planned for the future, and the fact that the
time line ended in 1999 was somewhat disconcerting. The company has
not put much effort into creating or maintaining the site. It seems
that this should be a link off of a much more elaborate website. It
is not a very informative and I recommend that if you are looking
for information about Lucas Film Inc., try a different website.
