Rumble Productions is a Vancouver-based company dedicated to the
creation and production of inventive works for theatre and other media
through the collaboration of many artists of various disciplines worldwide.
The group is responsible for numerous transmedia projects including
"Wireless Graffiti," which explored the international theatrical
possibilities of live radio in 1993. Rumble also publishes a bi-annual
magazine, "transmissions" on the web and in print. "transmissions"
features new artists of interest to the company and its audience,
and it hopes to provoke dialogue about new innovations in theatre
and art.
The Rumble website features information about all of their works,
from the past, present, and future, as well as events and news relevant
to avant garde artists, especially in their local Canadian area. These
include fund-raisers, parties, theatre and film debuts, forums, festivals,
etc. The magazine, "transmissions" is also published on
the site.
As it currently stands, the Rumble Productions website is very informative
about their projects and current happenings in transmedia art through
their magazine. For newcomers to their site or curious individuals
interested in new forms of art and media, samples of their projects
through streaming media or audio would be really helpful on their
website. It would also help website visitors to determine whether
or not they would like to pay money for tickets to Rumble's live events
and showings. Aside from the publicity, however, the internet can
be a really useful way for Rumble to get their work out to a wider
audience. This type of art may not affect everyone, but there are
probably people out there searching for this type of creative transmedia
work to appreciate. It will be interesting to see what further developments
Rumble Productions makes to use the internet in their projects.
