There are 4 main games on the CBS Survivor site: Outback Photo Shoot,
Survivor Fishing, Bridge Rescue, and River Cross. All of the games
require the latest version of Flash which I had to download in order
to use them. Once I finished this, I first tried the photo shoot game.
This consisted of various levels where you are given the task of capturing
certain species of animals on film. During the game, you can get information
on the animals you are shooting, as well as seeing very picturesque
views of the outback. In higher levels, you have to search for animals
in different areas of the continent. The task is to capture the animals
on film before your time runs out or before you run out of film. The
first time around the game was interesting because it was cool to
see the settings they put the game in and find out information about
the animals. After that it was pretty boring.
Next I tried Survivor Fishing. The game lets you choose which survivor
character you would like to fish with and the characters are all right
from the TV show. Its really neat because the charicatures drawn are
pretty funny and yet still resemble the people on the show. After
you choose your character, you can try to get a certain amount of
fish in the creek. Different fish will give you different amount of
points. There are also things like alligators to inhibit your fishing.
Once again, the game was pretty fun at first, but after a while you
could learn the specific trick needed to fish well and then it was
pretty tedious.
The Bridge Rescue game was, by far, my favorite. Once again you could
pick a character from the show with the cool animated face. This game
caused you to be stuck being chased by wild boars and trying to cross
a river. Then you would have to build yourself a bridge using wooden
blocks falling from the sky. The game was basically tetris although
a little harder because you had to navigate the space differently.
I thought the game was pretty fun to play except that before and after
each round you had to sit through a long animation of the hogs chasing
you (before) and you escaping (after). This seemed unnecessary after
the first round.
Lastly, I tried the River Cross game which caused you to have to
swim across a raging river and get to the other side. It was pretty
fun and a little challenging with different obstacles and target in
the way each time. Still, I found the Bridge rescue game to be the
game I could play over and over again and still find enjoyable. The
site also had a Hall Of Fame for players who had very high scores.
