The first thing I noticed at this site was that the page design is
very similar to Yahoo. The front page is almost all in English, except
for "micocina" (my kitchen) and "Ask El Consejero"
(ask the advice giver). This is interesting for a multicultural site
that is primarily aimed at Latin-American users. When I visited the
site I was really annoyed by the pop-up and banner ads which came
up, but I guess this is a common occurrence on most sites. The most
eye-catching section on the front page is the recent news, which focuses
on news for Latinos. (Containing stuff about Puerto Rico, Cuba, Columbia).
The Links Directory is quite large and offers viewers a vast array
of topics (education, travel, etc.). There is also a career center,
shopping area, and the "mi cocina" area to share recipes.
Spanish text also shows up at "mi cocina", which has recipe
category names both in English and Spanish (Carnes-Meats). I felt
like the site was not very visually interesting, choosing to go for
clarity with a simple text design. Mostly, it seems that this is a
Yahoo aimed at Latin American users.
