Getting
to MIT
By
Public Transportation:
Subway.
By train, take the Red
Line to the Kendall/MIT Station. From the "T" station
head down Main Street toward the Charles River, turn right on either
Hayward or Wadsworth Street, and walk one block to Amherst Street.
Building E-51 is on the corner of Amherst and
Wadsworth.
Bus.
The #1 bus stops at MIT on Massachusetts
Avenue. From there, it's a few minutes' walk east on Memorial
Drive until you reach Building E-51.
Shuttle Bus
from Roxbury Community College
By Taxi:
Taxi fare from Logan airport is $15-20. Taxi fare from downtown
Boston is about $10-15. In Cambridge, call 617-497-1500 or 617-497-9000
to arrange a pick-up.
By Car:
From

If you are heading south on I-93, follow I-93 into Boston then follow
the I-93 instructions below. If you are heading south on I-95, take
the I-93 South exit then follow the instructions from I-93. Alternatively,
take the I-90 East exit from I-95 then follow the instructions from
I-90.
From
the South (I-95 or I-93)
If you are heading north on I-93, follow I-93 (the Southeast Expressway)
into Boston then follow the I-93 instructions below. If you are

From
the West (I-90/Mass Turnpike)
Follow I-90 east to the Cambridge/Brighton exit (exit 18). Following
the signs to Cambridge, cross the River Street Bridge, and continue
straight about 1 mile, at which point you will be in Central Square.
Turn right onto Massachusetts Avenue, staying on Mass Ave for about
a quarter mile. Fork left onto Main Street and continue toward Kendall
Square for another quarter mile. MIT will be on your right (if you
cross the river again, you have gone too far). Turn right on Ames
Street, then left on Amherst. Building
E-51 is on the corner of Amherst and Wadsworth.
From
I-93
From I-93, take exit 26, and follow the signs to Back Bay along
Storrow Drive West, approximately 1.5 miles, to the exit for Route
2A. The exit will be on your left, just before the Harvard Bridge
(more appropriately called the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge). Heading
toward Cambridge, cross the Harvard Bridge; as you do, you will
be looking at MIT. Take the first right after the bridge onto Memorial
Drive, and promptly get into the left lane. Take the first left
off Memorial Drive (i.e., at the sign for "Kendall Square")
onto Wadsworth Street. Building E-51 is the first building on your
left, at the corner of Amherst Street.
Parking
If you are driving to campus, you may find unmetered on-street parking
on Memorial Drive and/or Amherst Street; on weekends, MIT affiliated
visitors can also park for free in the MIT-Sloan lot just off Main
Street (see map below). Additionally, there
is pay parking at Cambridge Center, at the corner of Ames Street
and Broadway, for about $13 a day (this facility is not affiliated
with MIT).
