Installing the Coral Program

The Coral program is used to reserve instruments, to report instrument status, and to log your instrument use time. You can install Coral on your office or personal computer so that you can reserve instruments and see the instrument status. The Coral program is called "Remote Coral".

To install Remote Coral:

  1. Go to this link to download the Remote Coral program.
  2. Follow the instructions on that page to download and install the program.
    1. Coral versions for Windows and Linux are bundled with the appropriate version of Java.
    2. Other users, such as Mac users, will have to download and install Java separately.
  3. For Windows:
    1. Double-click on the file coral-remote-win.exe file that you downloaded
    2. When it asks for a location to extract the files to, enter C:\
    3. After the files have been extracted, go to the folder C:\coral-remote
    4. Use the shortcut Coral Remote (CMSE-MIT) to access CMSE Coral
      • A shortcut for accessing the MTL version of Coral is also provided. Remember that Coral for CMSE and for MTL are separate services-- no account information is shared between the two facilities and you must have a separate account for each.
