On Friday, October 23, President Obama visited a lab in the Center for Materials Science and Engineering to hear from selected MIT faculty about their energy research. Among those faculty members who met with President Obama were Professors Paula Hammond and Angela Belcher, presenting their work on virus battery materials which was partially supported by MRSEC funds; Professor Vladimir Bulovic, presenting his work on QD-LEDs which was supported in its early stages by the MRSEC; and Professor Marc Blado, who demonstrated his technology for concentrating solar energy using coated glass. Professor Baldo received seed funding from the MRSEC early in his career at MIT.
