Schematic of the Svaya layer-by-layer nanoscale spray technology. In this process, water solutions (purple and red) of polymers and/or nanoparticles are alternately sprayed onto surfaces to form highly uniform, nanoscale functional coatings |
Svaya Nanotechnologies is developing equipment, processes and formulations for the deposition of multifunction, nanostructured thin films on large area substrates. This new technology was enabled by fundamental research in layer-by-layer assembled films at the MIT MRSEC. Spun out of the Hammond group, the founders have created a nanoscale spray process that produces highly uniform, molecular-scale films on large area substrates. The process is scalable, low cost, and environmentally friendly. This new technology allows significant process and performance improvements in multilayered optical, anti-microbial, self-cleaning, and anti-fog coatings, to name a few.
